WESTERN RETURNED SCHOLARS ASSOCIATION (WRSA) SYMPOSIUM 2002
21st Century China: Globalized Human Capital and Overseas
Chinese Entrepreneur -- The Opportunity & Success in China
The Symposium on "21st Century China: Globalized Human Capital and Overseas Chinese Entrepreneur -- Opportunity & Success in China", known as WRSA 2002, will be held from June 27 to 29, 2002 in Qingdao, China.
It is the seventh of the WRSA symposia series on "21st Century China", which is sponsored by WRSA with the collaboration from over 50 overseas professional organizations. WRSA Symposia Series are also supported and sponsored by various government institutions and organizations, such as,
President Jiang Zemin met with attendees of the First Symposium and gave a 45-minute speech. In his speech, President Jiang encouraged WRSA and overseas scholars to continue the mission of bridging China and the world by unifying the returned scholars, caring for their work and life, paying attention to their suggestions and needs. It is highly recognized that, as citizen ambassadors, returned scholars and overseas Chinese scholars have played an important role in promoting academic, social and economic exchanges between China and other countries in the world.
With China's membership in WTO and globalized human capital, China is more than ever in needs of the human capital of overseas Chinese. The needs and successes of many overseas Chinese makes it never to be the golden opportunity for them to make their dreams become true. With the high and new technologies and with the excellent management experience, it is the time for overseas Chinese to establish their enterprises and to become their own bosses. It is your choice and it is your opportunity! What we believe is that WRSA 2002 will provide a plat form for your success.
Call for Business Plan/Project Proposals
On behalf of the Qingdao Municipal Government and the WRSA, we sincerely welcome you to join us in Qingdao and encourage you to submit your potential business plans/project proposals to the symposium. WRSA will work very closely with the local Government of Qingdao to help match the business plans and project proposals with potential business partnership and funding in Qingdao. There will be two major forums discussing issues of (1) globalized human capital and enterprise, and (2) overseas Chinese entrepreneurs in China. Successful entrepreneurs and representatives of overseas professionals will be invited to speak on the two forums. CCTV has proposed to cover the entire programs live during the forums.
Qingdao is ranked as one of top ten cities with great potential in economic development in China. According to the 10th five-year Plan, Qingdao is focusing on four major social-economic areas: (1) marine, coastal and port development, (2) tourist, (3) home electronics, and (4) beer and beverage industries. New development and new technologies are needed in the areas of its major industries: electronic information, marine biology, environment protection, new materials, IT and biotech. The 2008 Olympic Games will have all its aquatic competitions in Qingdao, and Qingdao is working on major construction projects such as the Aquatic Competition Center, Subway System, Undersea Tunnel and the Bridge over Strait. The Symposium will also organize field visits to firms and companies in Qingdao, which will make you feel the opportunity and feel home.
All Business Plan/Project Proposals should be submitted to the Secretariat for possible invitation and international travel support before April 30, 2002. Email submission is preferred. We are anticipating 60-80 overseas professionals with business plan/project proposals to attend the Symposium and Business Conferences. The acceptance and invitation letter will be sent to you before May 15, 2002.
Application for International Travel Subsidy
Overseas delegates are encouraged and appreciated to apply for financial supports from your own companies, institutes and other sources possible. Due to limited funding, the symposium can only subsidize a few overseas delegates according to the priority and quality of your business plan/project proposals. Please indicate on the Registration Form (attached) if you need international travel subsidy. Subsidy application must be accompanied by your resume, business plan/project proposals and sent back to the secretariat in Beijing before April 30, 2002 for consideration. The confirmation of financial supports will be sent to you before May 15, 2002.
